NURSE: Possession and Sale of Controlled Substances

I’ve done lots of things that would destroy my ability to be a nurse.

I have sold drugs and I have bought drugs and I have done drugs.

I’ve worked in schools and with kids and with vulnerable adults. I grew up with a really strong family base and community support—and that’s important. But that wasn’t my only advantage. I’m white–and that always plays a part. It’s a privilege. I live in an area where people feel like that privilege is a right. And that’s a hard thing to confront. You don’t always have the energy–and that’s heartbreaking.
